Head of the Laboratory
Ioana Podina
My name is Ioana Podina, and I am the coordinator of the Clinical Cognitive Science Laboratory and an Associate Professor, PhD, at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (FPSE), University of Bucharest (UB). By profession, I am a psychologist and a psychotherapist, internationally certified in cognitive-behavioral therapy by the Albert Ellis Institute (New York, USA), and nationally certified by the Romanian College of Psychologists.
I am currently serving as the chair of the research committee within the prestigious international psychotherapy association Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI) and representative for Romania of Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR). Currently, I am the Vice President and a member of the UNESCO expert group on the ethics of neurotechnologies. I am also accredited as a PhD supervisor (https://doctorat.fpse.unibuc.ro/ioana-podina).
My main interests include the development of technology-assisted psychological interventions, the study of human-computer interaction in mental health, and the study of mental health among cancer survivors. My primary focus is on promoting mental health and well-being in both clinical settings and public health or organizational environments, as well as combating pseudoscience and malpractice in psychotherapy.
On a more personal note, it is a pleasure and an honor to lead this group of young enthusiasts with diverse research interests in the field of cognitive sciences.
